Indianapolis Healthy Start (IHS) offers education referral and support services to pregnant women and their families. Our goal is to eliminate the disparities in the birth outcomes and infant survival rates in Marion County. Indianapolis Health Start offers three main services. Case Manangement, Health Education, and Outreach. Services are offered at several locations. Action Health Center, Citizens Health Center, Marion County Public Health Department, Women's Visit Center Urgent Care,Minority Health Coalition of Marion County, and Eskenazi Primary Care Center.
The Minority Health Coalition of Marion County offers a Safe Sleep Class. Classes are held three times a month. The 2nd and 4th Friday at 9am and the 3rd Tuesday at 6pm. Classes are held at 4087 Millersville Rd.
The Baby & Me Tobacco Program is also a service offered through the Minority Health Coalition of Marion County. Participants enrolled in the program complete a total of 4 prenatal tobacco quit sessions. Staying smoke free after the baby is born, participants recieves a monthly voucher for free diapers, for up to 12 months.
Also offered is the Me, Myself, and I Self-Esteem program. This program a 10 week program that meets once a week for a hour. This program is for middle school aged kids and up.
The MInority Health Coalition of Marion County- Indianapolis Healthy Start Program offers one time presentations on various infant/child and maternal health topics. Presentations are offered in community settings such as churches and baby showers.
